What is 92.5 Sterling Silver?

Pure 100% silver looks bright white and is extremely soft. To enhance its beauty and durability, the vast majority of fine silver jewelry is made of sterling silver, which is composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper alloy which endows the jewellery with its required strength while at the same time preserving the ductility of the metal and its beauty.

How do I know the purity of my sterling silver jewelry?

The purity of sterling silver refers to 92.5% of silver in the alloy. In order to confirm the purity, the metal itself has to be sent to a laboratory to be tested. Each and every piece of our silver jewelry has a 925 stamp indicating the quality of the silver and its compliance with international standards.

Are all your products sterling silver?

Yes. Unless otherwise mentioned, all our jewellery is made up of genuine 925 sterling silver.

Can I prevent tarnish from forming on my silver jewellery?

As with most precious metals, tarnishing is a natural process that occurs in silver as a result of natural wear & tear and oxidation. However, you can significantly delay the formation of tarnish by taking care of your jewellery. With our simple tips on Caring for your Jewellery, your special piece will sparkle for years to come.

My jewellery has started to turn black. Does that mean that I purchased a defective piece?

No. Tarnishing does not mean that your sterling silver is not pure but it’s the opposite. The purity of the metal determines how malleable the silver is and how quickly it will tarnish. 950 sterling silver will bend more easily and tarnish more quickly than 925 sterling silver because of its increased purity. If however, tarnishing does occur, then you can refer to our Caring for your Jewellery tips and/or get it re-polished.

What is Cubic Zirconia?

Cubic zirconia (also known as CZ) is a synthetic crystalline substance used as an alternative to diamonds. The man-made material is colorless, hard, and flawless. Its popularity stems from its similarity to diamonds in brilliance and crystal clarity while still being affordable.

What is Rhodium Plating?

Rhodium, which is a highly reflective and durable metal, is finely coated onto silver jewellery to give it a long lasting, brilliant sheen. The benefits of this process include a resistance to both scratching and tarnishing. Sterling silver that has been plated with rhodium will look more like white gold than silver. The plating may wear down over time, but can be easily re-plated by your local jeweller.

Size Guide

Jewellery always fits. No sizing issues are solid silver! But if you’re confused about your ring, bracelet or chain size then use our easy guides and find your exact size.

Ring

At Jewelit we use the US system for ring sizing.

You can easily find out your exact ring size with the help of a thread or measuring tape and using the following comparison chart.

  1. Wrap a piece of thread on your finger at the exact location where you would wear your ring and mark where it meets its other end.
  2. Lay it flat on a measuring tape or ruler and measure its exact length.
  3. This length is equivalent to the circumference of your finger and knowing this figure in inches or millimeters will help you gauge your ring size by using the chart below. Please choose the value nearest to your measured length. The US size that corresponds best to that value is your ring size.

Bracelet

Chain Bracelet/ Loose Bracelet/ Charm Bracelet

If you own a similar style of bracelet, then you can measure it to determine your size. You should measure end to end for the correct length.

You may also refer to the chart below for a basic guideline to bracelet sizes. Please note that this is an approximate measurement. Follow the steps below for a more accurate measurement.

  1. Measure your wrist with a thread or a measuring tape, just below the wrist bone, where you would normally wear the bracelet.
  2. Mark your size and measure the length of the thread, using a ruler. That would be your wrist size.
  3. To find your bracelet size, just add your wrist size with the appropriate measurements below.

Chain

How to choose a Chain:

Decide where you want the necklace to sit – on your clavicle, the upper part of your chest, or lower. Secondly, you can measure your desired length with the help of a string or measuring tape and select your perfect fit.

Follow this chart to learn where each necklace length falls on the average woman’s body.

14 inches (35cm)

Fits like a choker and wraps closely around the neck.

16 inches (40cm)

Will fall few inches below the collarbone.

22” (55cm)

Falls at or above a low neckline.

24” (61cm)

Falls below any neckline.

36” (91cm)

Common with pearl strands and will hang below the bust.
